Tactile is another way to describe touch. Touch can be curative, erotic, and comforting, it can also be violent, lethal, a loss of integrity and bodily autonomy. Tactile Cosmology is about systems and communities of care in response to excessive extraction, and harmful modes of capital. Black femme modalities of earth given liberation in direct conflict and rejection of plantation capitalist structures, histories and pseudo-scientific pedagogies.

These postcards are a representation of personal extraction narratives. My father worked for the International Monetary Fund and due to excessive travel he exclusively related to me through colonial era postcards. This series was created in partnership with artist and photographer, Alanna Airitram. Our intention with these works are to liberate the black femme body from the colonial European male gaze to be replaced with our own remedial embodiment.
