Yu Yu Shiratori (b. Los Angeles, CA) is an interdisciplinary visual artist whose practice spans textiles, sculpture, and jewelry design. Rooted in personal narrative, Eastern and Western philosophies, and the natural world, her work explores the nuances of the immigrant diaspora, examining how intergenerational resistance, and shared histories shape contemporary community dynamics and speculative futures.
Through a playful integration of mysticism and folklore, she translates cultural memory and ancestral lineage into tangible, immersive forms. Her work investigates the enduring impact of collective heritage on modern identity, inviting viewers to reflect on their place within an interconnected global landscape.
Her public and institutional projects have been commissioned by the Museum of Contemporary Art Tucson, Arizona Commision on the Arts, and Bloomberg Philanthropies.
